“The greatest efforts in sports come when the mind is as still as a glass lake.” - Timothy Gallwey

You will all have heard sports people being “in the zone” or “playing out of their minds”. These are the times when they are at their absolute best. Things seem to happen almost in slow motion and they require no effort. No trying is involved. Here at the Academy of the Sporting Mind, we provide motivational and transformational coaching to aid sports people to perform at their peak when they choose, rather than just waiting for it to happen.  We do not coach on technical or physical disciplines but purely on the mental performance of an individual or team. Physical and technical performance is absolutely necessary, but by working on your inner game as well you will achieve more than you would ever have believed. Take your potential and become a winner!

If you want to transform your performance, call now on 07815567455 for a free 1/2 hour consultation.

I met Steve and Val from Parkinson’s UK today along with Alex Flynn. Alex is 38 and was diagnosed with PD 3 years ago. He is currently part way through a 10,000,000 metre run to raise money for and awareness of Parkinson’s. We has a conversation about how coaching and NLP could help those who have been diagnosed, and their families, deal with the news and ensuing difficulties. I am looking for people who have experience of using NLP with Parkinson’s sufferers. You can find out more about Alex at http://alexflynn.co.uk/ or Parkinson’s UK at http://www.parkinsons.org.uk/

Celtic v Rangers. A disgrace or pure passion?

March 3, 2011

Having just watched the footage (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_cups/9412825.stm) from the Old Firm game last night I found that I have a strong response to what happened and it raises a number of questions: – Is the behaviour demonstrated by players and coaches indicative of individuals who have lost all concept of what is really important in life? Technique Vs The Mind Game!

February 12, 2011

What percentage of sport is technical and what percentage is mental? I have asked this question to many sportspeople and enthusiasts and I don’t think I’ve got the same answer twice, and I have to say I quite agree. It is such an individual phenomenon. Does it differ between sports? Are there sports that are [...]
